Some engagement sessions are about the location. Krystian and Frances’s was about the day.

Frances had just finished her Masters program. They’re getting married in Italy. There was a lot to celebrate, and they wanted to celebrate it the way they actually live — on foot, with coffee, in the city they love.

So that’s what we did.

The Session

We spent the evening in South Beach, wandering the streets and just being in San Francisco. No elaborate backdrop, no golden hour cliffs — just the city, the light between buildings, and two people who are genuinely happy to be together. The kind of session where the locations are almost secondary to the energy.

Coffee was involved. Naturally.

There’s something I love about urban engagement sessions — they tend to produce photos that feel the most true to who a couple actually is. Krystian and Frances aren’t a “posed on a cliff at sunset” couple. They’re a “let’s walk around the city and find good light” couple. And their photos show it.

What They’re Looking Forward To

An Italy wedding. A Masters degree. A move, probably. The kind of season of life where everything is happening at once and you just want to stop and mark the moment.

That’s what an engagement session is really for — not just the photos, but the permission to celebrate where you are right now.

Urban Engagement Sessions in San Francisco

If you’re considering a city engagement session in San Francisco, South Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer great light, interesting architecture, and a vibe that’s distinctly SF without being a tourist cliché. It’s not my easiest session location from a logistics standpoint — parking is genuinely terrible — but the photos make it worth it every time.
