Johnny + Terra Jean | Half Moon Bay Anniversary Session
I’m so excited to share this session — not just because the photos are beautiful, but because of what it means to me personally.
Johnny and Terra Jean were the first couple I ever photographed.
Four years ago, before I had a portfolio. Before I had a process. Before I really knew what I was doing behind a camera, there were these two, trusting me with something that mattered. And now they came back — this time to celebrate five years together.
Four years later, we’re all still doing okay.
Five Years
We spent an evening in Half Moon Bay — starting downtown, wandering through the streets, then making our way to the coast as the marine layer rolled in. Two completely different moods, same couple, same energy they’ve always had together.
What struck me most was how easy it still is with them. Some things get heavier with time. These two have somehow gotten lighter. There’s a looseness between them — the kind that only comes from five years of figuring things out together, of choosing each other over and over again.
The laughing in these photos isn’t performed. It never is with Johnny and Terra Jean. They truly and genuinely love each other.
Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay is one of those places that works in almost any conditions. Overcast skies soften everything. The coastal cliffs give you drama without trying. The downtown has texture and color that makes for a completely different set of images from the beach — which is exactly why shooting both in one session gives you so much.
For couples looking for something that feels distinctly Northern California — not manicured, not overly styled, just real and beautiful — Half Moon Bay delivers every time.
A Note
I started photographing couples because I wanted to capture moments that actually felt like the people in them. Johnny and Terra Jean were my first shot at that. Four years later, we’re all still doing okay.
