We almost didn’t shoot this session.

Cameron and Jasmine’s original date got rained out, so we rescheduled. Then the new date started looking dicey too — gray skies, uncertain forecast, the kind of November weather that makes you refresh the weather app every twenty minutes. We decided to keep it anyway.

The weather was absolutely perfect.

That’s the thing about November in the Bay Area — it surprises you. We ended up with soft, even light and Filoli in full holiday mode, the exterior dressed for Christmas in a way that made the whole estate feel even more like something out of a dream.

If you haven’t visited Filoli Estate in the fall and early winter, it’s worth a trip even just as a visitor. The grounds are stunning year-round, but there’s something about the holiday season that adds a layer — the decorations feel considered and elegant, not overdone. As a backdrop for an engagement session, it’s almost unfair how beautiful it is.

The exterior of the estate gave us architecture, manicured hedges, and that distinctive early winter light that turns everything golden even without direct sun. We didn’t need much else.

Cameron and Jasmine were a little quiet at first — the kind of couple that starts out careful in front of the camera and then, gradually, just forgets it’s there. By the end of the session they were making me laugh more than I was directing them.

Sweet, funny, genuinely happy to be there together. The photos show it.
