An engagement party done right looks a lot like Helya and Cody’s.
A private estate in Los Gatos. Garden tables under the trees. A signature cocktail menu. Food that made you want to linger. And by the end of the night, a dance floor that no one wanted to leave.
The details were thoughtful without being overdone — white florals in simple vases, a custom bar setup with illustrated signature cocktail signs, elegant white linens on round tables set under a canopy of mature trees. The kind of party where everything feels considered but nothing feels stiff.
The food deserves its own mention. Charcuterie, fresh crudités, dolmades — a spread that felt as warm and generous as the couple throwing the party. Guests weren’t just celebrating Helya and Cody’s engagement. They were eating well while they did it.

Los Gatos has a quality to it that’s hard to replicate — tucked into the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, it has a small-town charm that still feels distinctly California. Private estates here tend to have that same quality: lush, private, and beautiful without trying too hard.
As the sun went down and the garden lights came on, the whole property transformed. They had a live band, and the dancing started and didn’t stop.

An engagement party is one of the most joyful and underrated events to document — the food, the details, the candid moments with family and friends before the wedding day chaos begins. If you’re planning a private estate event in the South Bay or Bay Area and want someone who knows how to capture it, I’d love to hear from you.

"Rose is a delight to work with! She had a variety of location options for us to choose from and helped my husband and I feel comfortable during our session. Us feeling natural led to beautiful, natural photos. We have worked with Rose on multiple sessions and will continue to in the future!"
