Nine years together. One year married. And something new on the way.

Elvis and Kiana didn’t need a reason to celebrate — but they had a good one.

The Session

We spent the evening on the coast at Half Moon Bay, where the fog does whatever it wants and the light has a quality you can’t manufacture. Elvis is Bay Area through and through. Kiana came from LA. They met in college, built a life together, and now they’re about to become three.

There’s something about couples who’ve been together that long — the comfort is visible in every frame. They don’t perform for the camera. They just are. Nine years of inside jokes and quiet mornings and choosing each other every day shows up in photographs whether you plan for it or not.

On Film

This session was shot on a mix of digital and 35mm film. The California coast and film photography were made for each other — the grain, the warmth, the way the light off the water renders on film is something digital just can’t replicate. There’s something about having both that I love: the consistency of digital alongside the magic that only film delivers.

Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay has a particular energy. The coastline is raw and beautiful, the light is moody and golden, and there’s a wildness to it that makes every session feel cinematic. It’s one of my favorite places to shoot on the Peninsula — not just for how it photographs, but for how it feels.
