West + Hannah | Marin Headlands Engagement Session
West and Hannah moved to the Bay Area from North Carolina, and they brought something with them that a lot of people lose when they move to a new place: the ability to actually enjoy where they are.
They chose Rodeo Beach for their engagement session not because it was trendy or because someone told them to — but because they’d fallen in love with the Marin Headlands the way transplants sometimes do, with fresh eyes and genuine appreciation. And it showed in every single frame.
Rodeo Beach
Rodeo Beach sits at the base of the Marin Headlands, just across the Golden Gate from San Francisco. The dark sand, the dramatic cliffs, the way the light moves across the water in the late afternoon — it’s one of the most visually striking locations in the Bay Area, and it’s still somehow underused as an engagement session spot.
Sessions here have a particular quality. There’s nothing manicured about it, nothing that feels staged. It’s just the coast, doing what the California coast does.

These two were a photographer’s dream — friendly, relaxed, completely at ease with each other and with the camera. The carefree energy they brought made the session feel effortless. We wandered, we laughed, we let the location lead.
Their wedding was planned for North Carolina, where their roots are. But this session felt like a love letter to California — to the place they’d made home, at least for now.
